Lahore, Punjab: The historic city of Lahore is buzzing with excitement as preparations for the iconic Basant Festival are in full swing. After a long wait of 25 years, the skies of Lahore will once again be filled with colorful kites and the rhythmic shouts of “Bo-Kata!” signaling the arrival of spring.
International Interest and Overseas Pakistanis
According to the report, a large number of overseas Pakistanis and foreign tourists are expected to visit Lahore to witness this cultural extravaganza. Many families residing abroad have already planned their trips, with hotel bookings starting as early as the beginning of January. Local families have shared their excitement, noting that relatives are flying in specifically for these three days.
Hotel Bookings Hit 100% Capacity
The demand for accommodation has skyrocketed. Major hotels in Lahore are reporting 100% occupancy for the festival dates.
- Dates of Celebration: February 6, 7, and 8.
- Sold Out Status: Irshad Bhatt, General Manager of a prominent private hotel, confirmed that all four of their branches in Lahore are completely sold out for the 6th and 7th of February.
- Special Arrangements: Hotels are planning to decorate their premises with flags and are even preparing “Kite-style” cakes to welcome guests.
Government Participation
The Punjab government is also actively involved in the festivities. Two major hotel rooftops in Lahore have been officially booked for government-hosted events on February 6, 7, and 8, ensuring a grand and organized celebration.
As February approaches, the city prepares to see its skyline transformed with blue, yellow, and red kites, marking a significant return of Lahore’s vibrant cultural heritage.
